The Busy Giffs: Surviving Sandy

Surviving Sandy

Welp, Sandy is over.

We survived.
Everyone is safe, the house wasn't touched and we could get out of our street today.

However, we are still without power after losing it at about 2:30 on Monday.
Our entire street is without power and NStar does not have an expected timeframe yet.

Do you realize how hard it is to keep a 1 year old entertained when you don't even have lights to play by....

We have a well so there's no water at all, not even cold water.
Our fridge is now garbage since it's been close to a full day and we're crossing our fingers that the electricity kicks on before we lose our chest freezer full of chicken, steaks, and vegetables.

Thankfully, Mom's house (about 40 minutes away) has power. And warm water. And hot food.
So we're camping out here today and hoping that by the time we get home tonight, we'll have power...

School was cancelled yesterday and today but I haven't heard about tomorrow yet.
I would definitely prefer to have the time off in June but considering I look like garbage, it's probably better I'm not teaching right now!

Cross your fingers we get power soon!

Keeping Up With The Giffords

  1. Glad you guys are safe! And hopefully your power will be on before you know it! It would be terrible if you guys lost your freezer food!

  2. Make sure you put a claim into the electric company. Most companies will reimburse you up to $200 for your lost food, just a lot of people just don't know about it.

  3. Glad you guys are all okay and praying that your power comes back on so you don't loose all that food!

The Latest Books

I've read some really great books this summer.  I continued the fun game of just grabbing a book and hoping for the best and found some ...
